- About our fittings: certain items are our own manufacture, some are made by Peter Wiles. Others are EC manufacture. We can make vintage fittings in brass, to special order. However, this specialised service is not a production line and all orders go to our workshop where the yacht restoration work is handled, and making time can be several months. Section 2. Also lead ballast weights for IOM and M-class (see price list, section 2). Some customer comments - Looking for sails, then click here for modern racing sails or cotton sails & vintage sails. For all other pages see links top right. Rigging a model yacht? See the books page, the (revised) BB3 Nylet booklet may well answer your questions. If you wish to make an order, or simply look through our extensive range of fittings available we suggest you download and print off the price list and also the postage rates & terms page; both are pdf files. 1932 - 80 years of sailmaking 1842 - 2012 ~ 170 years of manufacturing Nylet

Order received today, many thanks for your attentive service and excellent quality items. Bromsgrove
Hello Frank, received all items today, as usual, exceptional service from yourself and team. Can I place another order please. Blyth, Northumberland.
Nylet fittings are on my Squiggle (sail number 90) built by Bill Curtis in Falmouth, on the green Chinese E Class boat and on the red & blue Chinese IOMs which until recently I owned. I have sold both these boats to Chinese guys in Shanghai so your fittings are now being used by 3 Chinese boats, plus me! (and see the news board) Ian Holt, China.
Items received safely, many thanks for your fast response and excellent products. Keith, Leicester (August, 2011)
Parcel arrived this morning, really superb service, thanks a lot. Peter, Malta (10/2011)
Deck fitting packs available for One Metre (IOM) and for the Marblehead class (M-class).
We are also able to make up deck packs for other classes
such as Ten Rater & A-class, just ask stating your requirements.
Most fittings are “ready to go” - however, circular bowsies
require the 3 holes drilling, and the “single” ended rigging
screws require the wire end bending into a hook.
Other items include accessories such as tools, drill bits, bow bumpers, and tough
pondside wallet.
To make the price list easier to follow, the primary rig fittings (which
are most likely to be used to construct a rig) are shown with the part number lightly shaded.
Cordage.
We offer a range of lines in Polyester, Dacron, and Dyneema. Dyneema line has amazing breaking strains for its diameter,
and is white colour, braided. Dacron is a high strength (fishing)
line and is made in the USA. It is white colour with a green trace woven
in, the line runs smoothly and can have a slightly waxed feel. Our other polyester lines are a white colour and have a green trace (some of the weights
may have a black trace, depending upon new stocks). Please be aware that specifications can vary at any
time depending upon new stocks.
Some tips -
Which weight of line. 36 inch and One Metre yachts - use 30lb cord for lesser lines such as leach lines and the 50lb for running winch lines, sail (sheeting) control and backstay. Marbleheads use 50lb. For Ten Rater and larger the 80lb is used, and for A-class
and ketches over 1.5 metres length then we recommend you use
the 100lb for winch and all other sheeting lines etc.
Wires.
Flexible 7 strand stainless steel Nylon covered.
I find this wire is very easy to use and also far less hassle at the pond
side compared to the single strand stainless, as when you de-rig it falls
limply and stays where it is.
Generally the 50lb B.S. wire is used for rigging 36 inch, One Metre and
M-class yachts. The heavier 80lb is ideal for Ten Rater and 6 Metre size
boats, and the 100lb and 150lb for A class and larger. There are suitable
ferrules available for every size of wire (part no 21’s).
16swg = 1.6mm; 18swg = 1.2mm; 20swg = 0.9mm; 22swg = 0.71mm; 24swg = 0.56mm.
To convert the screw sizes in our price list from inches (imperial) to millimetres (metric) simply multiply the imperial size by 25.4 to attain the dimension in metric. OR go to this web site to convert the size (warning - you will exit this site). http://www.metric-conversions.org/length/inches-to-millimeters.htm
Useful
conversions -
Some screw diameters are referred to in "gauge" sizes (rather
than mm).
2 gauge (2g) = 2.16mm approx
4g = 2.83mm approx
Nuts,
screws etc. Latest news - in the autumn of 2011 we doubled the range of brass screws, thats good news for the vintage yacht restorer! Screws are stocked in stainless steel, and brass,
as well as brass in nickel plated finish; also washers, nuts, self tappers, screw eyes
and cotter (split) pins etc.
A note about our sail eyelets: these are brass and are nickel plated, except the N050.0 which are not plated. We are sometimes asked about setting tools, none are presently available. One problem is that due to the small size of the eyelets the tools have to be in complete register. We use a bench mounted vertical pillar press which cost us well over a hundred pounds several years ago, the other press is foot operated and dates to 1967! To this you have to add the cost of tooling and a pair is currently in excess of 70 pounds!
