Enlarged range of mast & deck fittings, wires, cordage, screws, and including tools and accessories, see price list (section 3).
Also carbon-fibre keels & rudders, and lead ballast.
Deck fitting packs for One Metre (IOM) and for the Marblehead class (M-class)
available.
We are able to make up deck packs for other classes
such as Ten Rater & A-class, just ask stating your requirements.
Most fittings are “ready to go” - however, circular bowsies
require the 3 holes drilling, and the “single” ended rigging
(or bottle) screws require the wire end bending into a hook.
To make the price list easier to follow, the primary rig fittings (which
are most likely to be used to construct a rig) are shown with the part
number lightly shaded.
Other items include tools, drill bits, bow bumpers and tough
pondside wallet.
Cordage.
We offer a range of lines in Polyester, Dacron, and Dyneema.
Dyneema line has amazing breaking strains for its diameter,
and is white colour, braided.
Dacron replaces the Leeda and is a high strength fishing
line and is made in the USA. It is white colour with a green trace woven
in, the line runs smoothly and has a slightly waxed feel. Our other polyester
lines are a white colour and have a green trace, some of the heavier weights
have a black trace. Please be aware that specifications can vary at any
time depending upon new stocks arriving.
Some tips. 36 inch and One Metres use 30lb Polyester
for some sheeting lines, and the 50lb for running winch lines, backstay
and sail sheeting control. Marbleheads use 50lb. For
Ten Rater and larger, the 80lb is used, and for A-class
and ketches over 1.5 metres length then we recommend you use
the 100lb for winch and all other sheeting lines etc.
Wires.
Flexible 7 strand stainless steel Nylon covered.
I find this wire is very easy to use and also far less hassle at the pond
side compared to the single strand stainless, as when you de-rig it falls
limply and stays where it is, whereas the single strand curls up as soon
as you let go the rigging screws.
Generally the 50lb B.S. wire is used for rigging 36 inch, One Metre and
M-class yachts. The heavier 80lb is ideal for Ten Rater and 6 Metre size
boats, and the 100lb and 150lb for A class and larger. There are suitable
ferrules available for every size of wire (part no 21’s).
Wire
size ready reckoner. Standard wire gauges (swg) are quite different
to screw gauge measurements, an approximate ready reckoner is appended
below for those customers who are more familiar with swg measurements
-
16swg = 1.6mm 18swg = 1.2mm 20swg = 0.9mm 22swg = 0.71mm 24swg = 0.56mm
Nuts,
screws etc. We list screws in both stainless steel, and brass
as well as brass in nickel plated finish; also washers, nuts, screw eyes
and cotter (split) pins etc.
Useful
conversions -
Some screw diameters are referred to in "gauge" sizes (rather
than mm).
2 gauge (2g) = 2.16mm approx
4g = 2.83mm approx
Section 2.
