Some suggested books for 'vintage' reading (out of print - try Abe books):
R.Griffin. Model Racing yacht construction. ISBN 0 85242 672 0. A MAP publication, although somewhat dated in parts (first published 1973) a lot still holds good and a useful source for those building a yacht from scratch; there is a chapter on vane control.
B.H.Priest & J.A.Lewis. Model Racing Yachts. A classic work, a MAP publication, has 9 folded line drawings of older Marbleheads, Ten Rater and A-class.
Edward W.Hobbs. Model Sailing Boats. First published Feb.1923. A classic work, has much of interest especially to those sailing or restoring older vane yachts, includes chapters on Ten Raters, The Metre Classes and 18 Footer class.
